It's becoming obvious that I want to buy land on a hilltop and build my own house. Is that too lofty of a dream? This week I went to an estate sale in Silverlake that was held in a 30s modernist house designed by a female architect who lived in it for fifty years. Everything built-in and beautiful in it's simplicity.
And recently, I came across the Melnikov House in Moscow, built by Konstantin Melnikov in 1925. With it's honeycomb-inspired windows and cylindrical outer shells, it's truly a work of art. More pictures here.
